Programs & Events

The Valleyview & District Recreation Department hosts a variety of Registered & Drop-in Programs for children and youth throughout the year!
Cooking Classes, Geocache, Girl Power and Nature Lovers are just a few of our past registered programs that have been a big hit with the kids!
Drop-in programs include Monthly Movies, Nerf Wars and more!

Upcoming & Ongoing Child & Youth Programs…

Ball Hockey

• $2/child drop-in program at Polar Palace Arena
• Thursdays from April 6th-June 15th, 3:30-5:00pm
• Children 7 & under must be accompanied by a responsible participant at least 12 years old

The Kids Table
Plant, craft and bake!

• Mondays from April 17th-May 8th
• Ages 7-12 years old
• $20/child (Pre-registration required)

Kidz Club- Outdoor Edition
Fresh air, sunshine and fun!

• Mondays from May 29th-June 19th
• Ages 7-12 years old
• $20/child (Pre-registration required)

The Recreation Department offers a number of Adult Programs. Past programs include but are not limited to Spanish Language Lessons, Walking Club, Cooking and Art classes.
We also join Shepherd’s Village during the cooler months for Senior’s movies for those aged 55 years and over.

Power Hour Fitness
A perfect mix of strength and cardio for all fitness levels.

• Tuesday & Thursday mornings, 9-10am
• Wednesday evenings, 5:30-6:30pm

Strength & Stretch
A complete body strengthening and stretching class for all fitness levels.

• Mondays from 5:30-6:30pm
• May 1st-29th (No class May 22nd)
• $20/person for course

Energize

• Movement class
• Mondays in Shepherd’s Village Sunroom from 10:30am-11:30am
• May 1st- June 26th

Uppercutters: Kickboxing for Fitness

• Uppercutters will return to our regularly scheduled programming in September!

Community events can be seen throughout the seasons!
Every fall the Recreation Department organizes a Community Coat Drive to assist those in the need.
Our Halloween Haunted House is always a family favourite, as is Family Day events in February and Canada Celebrations every July 1st.

Upcoming Community Programs…

Town Clean Up

• This annual event is organized by Community Services and takes place Friday, May 26th.
• 1-3pm
• Gloves, safety vests and garbage bags are provided
• Free hot dogs and refreshments for participants

Bike Rodeo

• Saturday, May 27th at Polar Palace Arena from 1-3pm
• Free event, but must pre-register by Thursday, May 25th
• Bake Safety Skills; Helmet Fitting; Obstacle course; and more..!

Community Garage Sale

• Saturday, June 10th at Polar Palace Arena from 10am-4pm
• $10/table

Nerf Wars!

• Nerf Wars has wrapped up for the season. See you in the fall!

Community Movies

• We’d rather spend the longer and warmer days outside… wouldn’t you?! Community movies begin again in the fall 🙂
