Spring & Summer
June to August are generally warm and sunny months, but be prepared for rainy days and the mosquitoes that tend to accompany wet weather! Long pants and sleeves during the evening will help keep these pesky insects at bay. Daylight hours can last up to 17 hours at the peak of summer, so come prepared with sunglasses and sunscreen!
Our two provincial parks, Williamson and Young’s Point, are a major attraction to the region. Sturgeon Lake and the parks are used in summer and winter for fishing. Perch, walleye and whitefish are plentiful. Well-treed campsites ensure privacy while contributing to the natural experience.
Fall & Winter
The region is a sportsman’s paradise. Hunters from throughout the world come to seek moose, elk, white tail deer, mule deer, and bear. They are all here!
Each fall hundreds of thousands of ducks and geese stop near Valleyview. The Peace River Country is one of the world’s largest staging areas for migratory waterfowl. It is a remarkable event that attracts sportsmen and birdwatchers from all over North America.
Winter recreation includes cross country and downhill skiing and some great snowmobile trails.
