Did you know that, according to Town of Valleyview Waste Management Bylaw 2025-14, garbage carts must be placed out for collection no later than 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day? Setting a consistent early time ensures our sanitation crews can follow their routes efficiently and avoid missed collections.
Here’s how you can help keep residential curbside collection smooth and effective:
- Ensure carts are placed with at least 1 meter (3’) of clearance from any structure, vehicle, or other objects.
- After collection, carts should be returned to their storage location on your property, within one meter of your dwelling, by 11:59 p.m. on collection day.
- Place your cart on the street, against the curb. If there is no curb, the street edge is acceptable. Carts left on driveways or lawns will not be collected.
- Residential pickup occurs once per week. Addresses north of 50th Avenue are collected on Tuesdays, and those south of 50th Avenue on Thursdays.
- Collection days may change during statutory holidays. Updates will be posted on the Town of Valleyview social media channels.
- Excess household garbage can be disposed of free of charge at the Valleyview Transfer Station located at 4205 40th Avenue, during regular operating hours. Please check in with the site attendant and follow their instructions.
Please note the upcoming 2025 holiday schedule:
During the weeks of December 22 to 26 and December 29 to January 2, all residential garbage will be collected on Tuesday of those weeks (December 23 and December 30). Please have your garbage out by 7:00 a.m.. Additional garbage bins will be available at the Transfer Station if you have extra waste during this time. Regular collection schedules will resume January 6, 2026.
