***UPDATE*** EMERGENCY SHUT OFF AREA EXPANDED.
Public Works and Utilities crews are working to locate and isolate a water leak which occurred on 55th Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets. Water service has been shut off and will affect residents on 53rd, 54th and 55th Avenues as well as two customers on the north end of 48th Street and those on 56A Avenue . Water will remain off while crews perform the repair. Residents are advised to stock up on water for drinking and sanitary purposes and to limit water usage until service is restored.
When water service is restored, thoroughly flush water lines using cold water faucets. Flush from bathtub and shower cold water faucets first for five minutes or until water temperature runs colder and water is clear.
Traffic control measures are in place and motorists and pedestrians are asked to please use caution when in the area.
