The Town of Valleyview is considering a new rain barrel program to encourage water conservation. Rain barrels allow residents to capture and reuse rainwater for gardens and landscaping, which helps reduce the demand on our municipal potable water system.
Before moving forward, Town Council wants to hear from you. Standard 55-gallon rain barrels currently cost between $120 and $140, and the Town is exploring different ways to offer a cost-recovery program to residents.
We are currently gathering public feedback on three potential program models:
- Direct Purchase: The Town buys barrels in bulk and sells them directly to residents.
- Pre-Order System: Residents submit applications, and the Town orders the exact number needed.
- Rebate Program: Residents purchase a barrel of their choice from a retailer and receive a set rebate from the Town.
