Notice is hereby given that the combined Assessment and Tax Notices for the Town of Valleyview were officially mailed on May 28, 2026. All assessed persons are deemed to have received their assessment/tax notices as a result of this publication.
Property taxes help fund essential local services, infrastructure maintenance, and community facilities. It is the onus of the ratepayer to ensure their property taxes are paid on time. If you have not received your notice, please contact the Town Office to request a copy.
Key Dates & Deadlines
-
Payment Due Date: Property taxes are due in full on July 31, 2026.
-
Assessment Appeals: Appeals must be submitted on or before August 4, 2026. Appeals must be submitted to the Clerk of the Assessment Review Board on the prescribed “Assessment Review Board Complaint Form” (available at the Town Office) and must be accompanied by the current appeal fees set by Council. These fees are refundable if your appeal is successful.
Important Notice for Recent Property Buyers and Sellers
Have you purchased real estate in the past few months? Alberta Land Titles is currently experiencing delays in the processing of land title transfers.
This delay may result in property owners not receiving tax notices for properties they have purchased in 2026, or conversely, receiving a tax notice for a property they have recently sold.
Please note that the Town is not responsible for these provincial processing delays. To avoid late payment penalties, property owners must ensure their property tax is paid before the July 31 due date, regardless of whether a physical notice was received. If you have recently purchased a property and did not receive a 2026 Tax Notice, please contact us immediately.
Penalty Information
To avoid penalties, please ensure payments are made by July 31, 2026.
-
A 10% penalty is added on August 1st to any unpaid current taxes.
-
An additional 5% penalty is added on September 1st to any remaining unpaid current taxes.
-
All arrears are subject to a 1% penalty on the 1st day of each month, and a 5% penalty on January 1st.
