Starting today, the next phase of the Highway 43/49 roundabout construction project will begin. This phase requires traffic detours and temporary road closures to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers.

Please review the following changes to navigate the area safely.

Detour Routes

To facilitate the construction of the future roundabouts, traffic will be diverted from the existing Hwy 43/49 intersection:

  • The primary Hwy 49 detour will run along 48 Avenue, East Highway Street, and 39 Avenue.

Road Closures

  • 50th Street Access: To construct the second roundabout near 50th Street, access onto Hwy 49 from 50th Street will be completely closed to regular traffic. Emergency vehicles will still be permitted to cross 50th Street to East Highway Street.

  • 48 Avenue Access: The 48 Avenue access point to East Highway Street is closed to traffic.

Parking Adjustments and Turning Restrictions

  • 39 Avenue Truck Parking: To allow for a designated right turn lane during the detour, truck parking will be pushed further away from 39 Avenue toward the A&W. Please observe the new “No Truck Parking” signs in this area.

  • 39 Avenue Turning: There will be no left turns allowed at 39 Avenue; drivers will be directed to use 36 Avenue instead.
